The Cup is in the bag for The Reds.

Not only do i support arsenal but i love them. It is therefore difficult to say that they are not in position to contend for the title due to inconsistancy with their results.

On the contrary, look at the reds, although there was a time when manchester united looked a bit shaky, they have not had seroius wobble and it appears the worst is really over for them as they easily overcame the end of year bank tight holiday fixture. What else is needed of champion? When playing poorly but still grinding results and it is not a comfortable proposition to be chasing manchester united especially at the beginning of the year.

I heard Wenger saying that the team lacked some one to take charge on the pitch at Wigan. It is very surprising to hear him make such statements as it makes him kind of acknowledge the fact that the team lacks maturity to win the title. It is only mr Wenger who has been believing in the all young team. Almost every pundit has argued to the contrary. Infact, even a novice would see that Arsenal needs atleast two or three heavy hitters to bolster both the defence and the mid field. I just think that wenger now realises that such statements need to be made in preparation for the worst at the end of the season.

Logic is very simple, this is january, let mr Wenger go out there to buy some muscle and buy them from within the English premiership league ready to impact on the team immediately. Anything else short of this will only make it very difficult for arsenal even to qualify for the European championship as the competition is immense.

As for the title contention, the belief to win it will only make the title race for the English premiership league interesting but i do not see manchester united letting go.

Can Arsenal Challenge for the Premiership Title?

Last weekend saw arsenal go second in the premier leage. Thanks to the rarest goal from Sagna Bacary and the sleek move by Denilson which helped skipper Fab to slot home the evening's seond.

That means Arsenal are just two points behind the champions but it also means that Man Uunited is on their heels. We saw last year when arsenal appeared to overhaul Chalsea only crumble in the later stages. The question i keep asking myself is whether Arsene's Men have the spine to mount a challenge for the title this season. Personally, i think that they still lack the midfiel lynch pins and their rear guard is too porous. Those those areas coupled with the lack of decisive finishing wll leave arsenl trophyless this yet again.

The defence is equivalent to the roots of a tree which forms its foundation. No matter what, if the roots of the tree are are deep in the ground, nothing will shake such a tree. Gales may beat it but will still remain unmoved. This sort of foundation is currently non-existent in our beloved arsenal.
The premier league this season may well bring surprises is the current performances contue.

My verdict is that the boys are nolonger the boys, but they are not real men as yet so i hope that mr Wenger drafts in some muscels com january window.
