The gunners started the first half with their expansive play and Van Parsie found the net before William Gallas added the second. The gunners therefore went into the break with a comfortable two goal lead and everyone would have been convinced that this was going to be another goal bonanza for the Wenger boys as has been the case in the recent past.
But the hammers had their own plans and indeed although the gunners had gone ahead, Carlton Cole and company had given the Arsenal back four a torrid time. And it was not too long before the hammers pulled one back through Carlton Cole. From then on, Arsenal looked very vulnerable and again Carlton Cole was brought down in the area gifting the hammers with an equalizing penalty. The hammers could have gone on to take the three points.
And although the hammers went down to ten men they proved Zola's words that he is a fighter as they played with so much energy.
While at Anifield, the reds were humbled by the spirited Kops as Rafa Benitez rallied his troops and ease pressure upon himself. So then, bring on the premiership Title and the cold and dark evenings draw near, this title is still very open.
